The Housewives of Orange County Work Out On The TRX Suspension Trainer

Ok, I apologize in advance for this.

I said I wouldn’t get caught up in the “who is the latest celebrity working out with the TRX Suspension Trainer”.

But we have talked about Jennifer Lopez who works out with the TRX under the direction of super trainer Gunnar Peterson and we recently found out that the beautiful and super talented Mary J Blige also uses the TRX workout with Beverly Hills trainer Greg Miele.

So it was recently pointed out to me by Fitness Anywhere on Facebook that the TRX Suspension Trainer was recently seen on an episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County.

I’ve never heard of this show, but doing some research I found out that The Real Housewives of Orange County is of course a reality show on the Bravo network.  The series follows the lavish lifestyles of several Orange County “housewives” and their families.  (Seriously, why am I writing about this?)  Apparently this series has already spun off The Real Housewives of New Jersey (I kid you not) and The Real Housewives of Atlanta and coming soon to your HDTV The Real Housewives of Washington DC.

Ok, so back to the TRX.  The Season 5 premiere episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County shows “housewives” Tamra Barney and Lynne Curtin going for a morning workout at the Renaissance ClubSport (that’s right, no space between Club and Sport) hotel and fitness club.  Check out this gym.. I mean ClubSport.

The video shows Tamra and Lynne working out with a personal trainer.  When asked to do a TRX Atomic Pushup, the best line from this segment has Lynne commenting, “Oh hell no, that ain’t gonna happen.”

It’s because of shows like this that I don’t watch a lot of television.  I’m not going to post the video here, but if you want you can check it out on Hulu.com.  Fast forward to 23:10.  Don’t watch the whole episode.

We Want A Professional World Class Workout At Home

TRX World Class Workout At Home

TRX World Class Workout At Home

Most of us don’t make a living playing professional sports.  I mean we want to work out and be in great shape like pro athletes.

But we don’t have to be.  Our next paycheck doesn’t depend on making a touchdown pass or out-jumping the other guy for a rebound or finishing in the top 10 at a major triathlon.

But we do have one thing in common with the pro athlete.  24 hours in a day.  A pro athlete has to have a workout program that is effective.  A workout program that will keep him/her at optimum condition and injury free.  This conditioning workout has to be efficient.  No wasted time.  A pro athlete has to train for the sport.

A Drew Brees workout has to get him ready to throw touchdowns and withstand the forces of a 300 lb lineman driving him to the ground.

A George St Pierre workout has to get him ready for the fight.  Sometimes its just about knowing that you have the conditioning to outlast your toughest opponent in a brutal fight.

If you’re a world class trainer like Steve Hess, you know that a  Carmelo Anthony workout has to get him in the best shape possible for the long 82 game NBA basketball season.

And if you are a triathlete like Tyler Stewart your triathlete workout has to be efficient and effective so that you can put in the time and distance that it takes to train for the Ironman World Championship and run a small business at the same time.

So basically, we want the same thing pro athletes want – maximum results in minimum time.  An efficient and effective workout that will get us in the best shape possible in the shortest amount of time.  A portable workout at home or in the office, outdoors or just about anywhere.

Mary J. Blige Workout on the TRX Suspension Trainer

A while back we promised you that we wouldn’t turn this into a “Who is the latest Hollywood Star working out with the TRX Suspension Trainer”.  We said we’d only tell you about the ones that were serious about fitness and staying in shape.

A few months ago we told you that Jennifer Lopez was working out with super trainer Gunnar Peterson using the TRX.  Gunnar had developed a routine for J Lo that she could use wherever she wanted to workout using the TRX Suspension Trainer.

The latest Superstar that’s working out with the TRX is the fabulous singer Mary J Blige.  Self.com has an article about how Mary J keeps her body smokin’ hot.  Beverly Hill trainer Gregg Miele has developed challenging suspension training workouts for Blige as well as other celebrities.

The good news is that you don’t need a personal trainer to get a Mary J Blige workout.  All you need is the TRX Suspension Trainer and a TRX workout plan to get yourself in the best shape of your life.

You really don’t even need a plan.  The TRX workout comes with its own plan and you can get it by clicking on the following link.

The Most Efficient and Effective Metabolic Workout. And You Can Do It At Home

Metabolic Workout

Metabolic Workout

Metabolic Workouts or Metabolic Conditioning Training (metcon) programs have always been popular among elite fitness trainers and the athletes that they train for one simple reason.

They work.

What is a metabolic workout?  It may be hard to pin down one one set definition.  For the most part a metabolic workout is a grouping of multi-joint, strength based exercises that target multiple muscle groups with each movement done for time or number of reps with a relatively short rest component between each movement and set.

Furthermore a metabolic workout will leave you on the floor.  Gasping for air.

You won’t see a lot of true metabolic workouts at your local gym.  This is fine because most people aren’t ready for a hardcore workout like this.

Fraser Quelch, Director of Training at Fitness Anywhere has written a good article about metcon and the TRX Suspension Trainer.  According to Fraser, the TRX Suspension Trainer can easily be made part of an effective metabolic training workout.  Here’s why:

  • The brilliant design of the TRX makes it possible to scale each workout so that you have the optimal amount of resistance for every single rep.
  • Typical metabolic workouts use exercises use exercises that move the body in a single plane whereas the suspension training concept built into a TRX workout allows the body to move in all 3 planes – sagittal, frontal and transverse – the way your body moves in real life.  (For more about Planar Training workouts, check out this article:  Planar Suspension Training – A New Paradigm For Triathletes)
  • With a TRX workout, you are in total control.  No waiting in line for a piece of equipment to become available you easily transition from one exercise to the next.  Your metabolic workout is efficient and targeted.  You save time.  And as you know, you can do this TRX metcon workout at home, at the office, in your dorm, outside – anywhere.

So what can you do with the time you save?

You can swim, bike or run.  You can play tennis or golf.  You can climb or surf.  You can play football or hockey, baseball or basketball.

You can know that you are in the best shape of your life.

Is The TRX Suspension Trainer Workout For Everyone?

TRX Suspension Trainer Workout

TRX Suspension Trainer Workout

So can anyone workout with the TRX Suspension Trainer?

Good question.

We tend to highlight professional athletes like NFL quarterback Drew Brees or NBA Basketball stars like Carmelo Anthony who use the TRX Suspension Trainer to achieve optimum fitness.

We’ve also told you about the George St. Pierre workout and how UFC World Champion George St. Pierre uses the TRX workout to maintain his status as one of the fittest athletes on the planet.

We also know that some of the fittest triathletes workout using the TRX triathlete workouts that are featured using the TRX Suspension Trainer.

But we’ve also seen TRX Suspension trainers on Biggest Loser and we know tha the TRX Biggest Loser Workout has been one of the most popular workouts for people just starting out.

So why do world class athletes as well as beginners all use the TRX Suspension Trainer?  Here’s what I think.

The TRX can be used anywhere.  At home, in your office, anchored to a tree out in your back yard or in your dorm room.  Because it can be used anywhere, you no longer have an excuse for not working out.  You don’t need any other piece of equipment.  At all.

TRX workouts are effective.  They simply work.  After your first 20 minute workout you’ll know that you’ve worked out your entire body to the max.  No matter what shape your in.  And yes I did say 20 minutes.

And finally TRX workouts are fun.  Fun has to be a big part of it to maintain your interest.  With literally hundreds of exercises that you can perform you will never be bored.  But you will be always get a world class workout.

Battle of TRX Quarterbacks Drew Brees vs Trent Edwards

We’ve featured both Drew Brees as well as Trent Edwards here as users of the TRX Suspension Trainer workout program.

Yesterday in what we’ve billed as the Battle of the TRX Quarterbacks, Drew Brees New Orleans Saints beat Trent Edwards and his Buffalo Bills by a score of 27-7.

Drew Brees Game Day Challenge

Drew Brees Game Day Challenge

Neither quarterback had an overly impressive game compared to their first two games.  Especially Drew Brees’ first two games where he threw for over 300 yards and multiple touchdowns in each game.  Instead it was the New Orleans defense that took control of this game against Buffalo and held Trent Edwards to only 156 passing yards no touchdowns and 1 interception.

Drew Brees was mediocre as well with only 172 passing yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions.

Drew Brees currently has his New Orleans Saints with a record of 3-0 while Trent Edwards’ Buffalo Bills.

With mediocre performances like this I’m sure they’ll be hearing from Elite Professional Fitness Coach Todd Durkin sometime this week.

Trent Edwards TRX Suspension Trainer NFL Workout

Trent Edwards of the Buffalo Bills had a nice game passing for 230 yards including a 43 yard touchdown pass to Terrell Owens to give the Bills their first win of the season.

Edwards who has high hopes for the Bills this season spent a good part of the off season working out to get himself in optimum football shape.

In this video Trent Edwards works out with Ross Headley of Fitness 101.

Edwards talks about the fact that the TRX Suspension Trainer works the muscles without straining the joints and how he can get a full body workout using the TRX.  His goal is to be in the best shape possible so that by the time week 11 or 12 comes along and many other players are burning out he will see the benefit of the hard TRX workout program he did in the off season.

Trent Edwards was turned on to the TRX NFL workout by Drew Brees who had another phenomenal game throwing for over 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in leading the New Orleans Saints to their second straight win.
